GENERAL INFORMATION
(1) Position title
Personal Assistant to a Senior Diplomat (There is only one post available.)
(2) Period of performance
– One year (renewable. Subject to a three-month probationary period.)
– Full time (40 hours /week)
(3)Working hours
7:30 to 16:30 (Lunch break: 12:30 to 13:30) *.
*Overtime (including evenings, weekends and/or public holidays) and emergency duty may be
required from time to time. In this case, overtime pay will be paid.
(4) Place of performance
Embassy of Japan in Tanzania (Plot No. 1018, Ali Hassan Mwinyi Rd, Dar es Salaam).
(5)Eligible applicants/Qualification
–
Applicants must have legitimate Tanzanian nationality.

The minimum educational qualification is a bachelor’s degree.
(6) Salary
Salary varies according to skills and experience and will be communicated to the successful
candidate when the Embassy decides to recruit.
(7) Annual leave and public holidays
These shall be granted in accordance with internal regulations as well as Tanzanian local
legislation.

2. DUTIES
This post is required to
–
Manage the senior diplomat’s schedule.
–
Maintain regular contact with other diplomatic missions.
–
Draft diplomatic protocol documents.
–
Contribute to the organisation of receptions hosted by the Embassy.
–
Translate from English into Swahili.
–
Provide other administrative assistance.

3. SKILLS REQUIRED
– Strong responsibility for managing the senior diplomat’s schedule.
– High level of administrative skills.
– Good communication skills in both English and Swahili.
– Computer skills/knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
– General knowledge of and interest in Tanzanian politics and diplomacy.
– Interest in and understanding of bilateral relations between Japan and Tanzania.
– Ability to meet deadlines.
– Attention to detail and thoroughness in seeing tasks through to completion.
– Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and work flexibly as part of a team.
– Personal integrity and an honest and ethical approach.
4. SELECTION PROCEDURE
The Embassy will select candidates according to the following procedure:
(1) Document screening
(2) PC Skills Test (only for those who have passed the document screening)
(3) Interview*
*It is scheduled to take place at the Embassy of Japan (Ali Hassan Mwinyi Rd Dar es
Salaam) in early August 2024.

5. HOW TO APPLY

(2) One passport sized photograph (attached to the application form)
(3) A short essay on recent news that you find interesting (A4 paper, strictly no more than 500
words, do not write your any personal information on the essay.)
(4) Tanzanian National Identity Card (copy)
(5) Police Clearance Certificate
(6) Academic certificates (copy)
(7) Certificate or evidence of the qualifications (copy, if applicable)
6. PERIOD OF APPLICATION
Between 11 June 2024 and 4:30 p.m. on Friday 12 July 2024
